Mukinyai Primary School has officially transitioned to full community ownership of its school meals programme, marking a major milestone for Feeding Futures. This achievement demonstrates the power of our five-year partnership model, which equips schools and communities to sustain meal programmes independently.
During their June 2025 visit, UK trustees witnessed the pride and resilience of Mukinyai’s staff and community. Teachers, pastors, and kitchen staff gathered for a celebratory meeting where we recognised their efforts with personalised gifts and a trophy for the headteacher. Their enthusiasm and commitment were palpable.
Mukinyai now serves as a benchmarking destination for other schools, NGOs, and government officials. Visitors are consistently impressed by the school’s planning, transparency, and community engagement. From food storage systems to shamba (farm) management, Mukinyai exemplifies what sustainable school meals can look like.
As we expand our work, Mukinyai remains a shining example of what’s possible when communities are empowered to lead. Their success is not just a milestone – it’s a model for others to follow.
